Background: Ribbonwood is New Zealand's iconic native tree that thrives in coastal and lowland forests, providing excellent shelter and habitat for native birds. We planted several Ribbon trees in the vineyard and named them after them.
The grapes for this wine come from five different vineyards, all located in the Wairau Valley.50% of it comes from the vineyards near the town of Blenheim, with deep silty loam soil, and 30% comes from the gravel soil in the western bend of Raupara/Conder. The remaining 20% comes from the clay soils of the southern valleys. All vineyards are certified sustainable by the Sustainable Wine Society of New Zealand (SWNZ) and have vines between 8 and 30 years old.
Tasting Notes: The aroma is of ripe yellow citrus and a hint of herbaceous notes. The palate is lively and full-bodied, with crisp guava, nectarine and yellow bell pepper flavors, while a delicate acidity finish gives the wine structure and a lingering finish.
