Background: It is also a native Italian variety, and its origin and history are still controversial. However, some scientists have confirmed that Frappato is a close relative of the famous Italian variety Sangiovese. It likes dry and warm terroir conditions, so Sicily is the most suitable place for this variety. Currently, 85% of Frappato in the world comes from Sicily.The wine produced usually has fresh fruity aromas of wild fruits, cherries and strawberries, a light body with high acidity and medium-low tannins, and often has the aroma of pepper, cinnamon and other spices. Some people call Frappato the "Beaujolais of Sicily".
