Background Information: "Chianti Classico Gran Selezione" is the highest-level appellation of origin among the renowned Chianti wines of Tuscany, Central Italy. It allows the use of only the winery's own vineyards, best representing the unique terroir of the estate.
Regulations stipulate that Chianti Gran Selezione wines must be made from at least 90% Sangiovese grapes from this appellation and prohibit the use of international grape blends. They must be aged in oak barrels and bottles for at least 30 months before release.
