Alcesti
Founded in 2003, Alcesti is located in the heart of Trapani, one of Europe's richest vineyard provinces.
While the winery's history is relatively short, it actually originated from a long-established agricultural enterprise. The Paladino-Spanò family, the owners, has a generations-long passion for viticulture.
Regarding the name "Alcesti"—
We chose to name the company "Alcesti," which symbolizes the world of women and represents a Greek tragic heroine who bravely sacrificed her life to save her husband, the king. We chose her partly out of admiration for this woman and her courage, and partly because of the uniqueness of Euripides' work—she broke with the traditional tragic mold. Unlike typical heroines, her actions ultimately led to divine redemption and a truly happy ending.

In the complex and diverse world of Sicilian winemaking, we aspire to showcase and embody this spirit, a spirit that often tends towards homogenization. We yearn to be distinct and unique. Our vines are rooted in some of the richest regions of Italian vineyards. They are bathed in the Sicilian sun and imbued with the dedication of our hard work. This 50-hectare vineyard lies between Marsala, Mazara, and Salemi, at altitudes ranging from 100 to 280 meters. These vineyards, inherited from our ancestors, showcase the quintessential Sicilian terroir.
The winery is the culmination of our family dream. It reflects our hospitality, innovative spirit, and respect for the environment.
